Ok, I've started reading the complete idiots guide to PCs again for the second time today. Found some more funny stuff. From the section called "Part 3: Guerrilla Computing"
"If you want some free advice, here goes. Don't even think of buying a 386SX, or ay 386, for that matter. In addition, because of the new Pentium chip, computer stores are offering fantastic deals on 486 machines."
"The latest, greatest chip: the PowerPC"
"The minimum memory your computer should have is 4 megabytes. Any less, and Windows programs plod along like a box turtle in midsummer. Also, make sure you can add RAM if needed."
"A small hard disk is about 80 megabytes. Large hard disks can be over 500 megabytes."
"Many computers come with 80 megabyte hard disks, which store about 15 programs plus some files you create, if you're lucky. Microsoft Windows alone requires 6 to 8 megabytes, and it's not uncommon for programs to require over 20 megabytes."
